I did the same with German many years ago too. Surely a good idea to learn Spanish if you are living in Spain and Catalan is useful too in Catalonia. Not only for meeting a new partner either, you would be surprised how useful another language can be. Handy for getting work in Spain too. In my experience most people don't decide to learn Spanish because they hope to hook up with a Spanish speaker.
