Weekly thoughts from Catalonia

A few things this week to talk about, the first one being the tragedy in St Boi. I suppose I won’t be the first to criticize shoddy Spanish workmanship especially in the construction industry but questions should be asked as to how a ceiling collapses on young children while watching a baseball game. And I don’t think we can use “it was really windy” as some sort of escape clause! I feel the same way as regards the Spanair tragedy in Madrid – who in their right mind gets his electrical tape out and tapes up a fuse so that it wouldn’t cause the alarm to go off – completely forgetting that this self same fuse was used to alert the pilots that the flaps were not working.

Good for Barak Obama respecting Women’s rights the other day. I mean if a woman can do the same job as a man, then why pay her less? Or why should she get half of the pension that her fellow male colleagues were getting?

I also read with dismay some English press where it talked about the case where they ( the great British social services) have taken two young children from their loving grandparents and have given them to a….wait for it…GAY couple! What kind of baboons are running the show at Social Services HQ? Political correctness and the like…..you can shove it! Absolutely awful and morally obscene to boot.

Also it seems that the army are the only ones to be doing their bit in looking after ones own first. Apparently anyone British wanting to beat the crisis will get seen to first. Shame that Gordon Brown doesn’t take that to heart. There have been many protests in the UK that were prompted by a decision to bring in hundreds of Italian and Portuguese contractors to work on a new £200million plant at the giant Lindsey Oil Refinery at North Killingholme, North Lincolnshire. Pathetic, and good old Gordon wants the UK in the Euro currency? – he should by lynched!

As a matter of fact it’s taken me around 20 years to get a decent job in Spain despite working for various Catalan companies who spoke atrocious English preferring to handle anything remotely English themselves rather than letting me anywhere near! I suppose the Spanish mentality of “he’ll take my job if I let him do it” had something to do with it. Boys have you got a lot to learn! While on the subject, someone ought to teach poor old Rafa Nadal and Fernando Alonso how to speak “reasonable English” because after hearing the pair speak over the course of last year it’s no surprising me that Spain is at the tail end of English language learning. Their awful English accent just makes me want to weep in my PG Tips! I even told my wife to cite them as prime examples of “how not to speak English” when she next teaches at her yuppy school in Sarrià.

Well that’s it for today I have more up my sleeve but it’ll have to wait….it’s Sunday!

  1. Your wife should also cite her husband as prime example of outdated Anglo supremacist views. You must have enjoyed Faulty Towers.

  2. lol

  3. Maybe his wife should cite you as an example of a pseudo Catalan with an Anglo/Scottish forename – Ian Llorens? Por favor! I bet you also live in gràcia as well, don’t you. Typical comment from a typical Catalan wannabe politician schmuck.Obviously Franco didn’t do his job well enough. Assholes like you make me sick.

  4. I normally ignore insults by Anglo supermacist and fascist morons.

    supermacist = supremacist

  5. What a lot of resentful tosh in this piece. So much prejudice and ignorance condensed in one poorly written article.

    Jeff H, are you an apologetist for fascism and cultural genocide?
    Change Catalan for Jew and Franco for his ally Hitler and you are nothing but a nazi scumbag.

  6. Nazi scumbag? You disgust even me. Please do not ever cheapen the use of the word nazi again. EVER. You are an idiot for doing so. A repulsive idiot. No better than “anna seville” who commented a while ago who also liked pushing the word “nazi” at people. WTF is wrong with you people? I’m not surprised that you didn’t include a link to your website Rab trenator.blogspot.com Hopefully you are ashamed of your comment. Or maybe you are proud. Either way, how about you stop falsifying or cheapening the word nazi. Scumbag? Yeah I can see quite a few around here.

    That to me and most people is a nazi comment, cultural genocide and all that and praising Hitler’s ally for not killing enough Catalans. Nazi. Fascist.

    I have been to A-B twice. Don’t patronise me.
