More Spanish gripes this week with Alonso and company
I’m a bit fed up this week with Alonso’s gripes. He’s thrown his rattle out of his pram again and says that if he can help anyone win the formula 1 drivers’ championship he’ll help Massa. More sour grapes from the little Spaniard I’m afraid – could you ever imagine Massa and Alonso in the [...]
Penalties put both Hamilton and Massa out of contention at Fuji Japan
The two main rivals for the 2008 drivers’ title scored just one point between them in Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix, as both were hit by penalties early in the race. Ferrari’s Felipe Massa finished eighth, while championship leader Lewis Hamilton managed only 12th for McLaren. Polesitter Hamilton was penalised for forcing Kimi Raikkonen wide into [...]
Alonso looks set for another year in the wilderness
Yep, you heard me right folks – Fernando Alonso looks set for another year off! Metaphorically speaking of course! BMW have effectively slammed the door in the Spaniard’s face and will continue with Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica in 2009. Alonso was apparently dilly dallying over a move to BMW and wanted a king’s ransom [...]
Lewis Hamilton demoted to third place after brilliant win at Spa
Lewis Hamilton has defended his move at the Belgian Grand Prix which saw him demoted from first down to third place after controversially being retrospectively penalised. Hamilton was involved in a ding-dong battle with Kimi Raikkonen when he was forced to cut straight through the chicane at Spa-Francorchamps. The move saw Hamilton overtake the Ferrari [...]
13 Gold medals For Great Britain So Far
Thought I’d just big up our GB Team for winning 13 Gold medals so far and on being 3rd in the table behind the almighty China with their 12 year old gymnasts..oops sorry 16 year old gymnasts and the USA team. Not a bad feat for a little island in northern Europe I must say. [...]
Spanish cyclist fails Beijing drugs test
IOC spokeswoman Giselle Davies has announced that Catalan cyclist Maribel Moreno has failed a routine dope test. Moreno tested positive for the banned blood-booster EPO in a test performed at the Olympic village on July 31st, and returned to Spain the same day, citing an “anxiety attack.”
Spain are European champions after 44 years of hurt!
Spain have finally done it! They’ve also done it in style I might add. A fine goal by Fernando Torres – “el niño” put paid to 44 years of waiting. Well done lads you deserve it.
Spain v Germany Eurocup Final
I thought I’d better write a few words after watching Spain walk all over Russia in last night’s Eurocup semi-final. What happened to the Russia that destroyed Holland – who in my opinion was one of the most exciting teams to watch? In all honesty I think Spain has had one hell of an easy ride [...]
Nadal tastes victory at The Queens Club
Rafael Nadal has become the first Spaniard to win a grass court tournament in 36 years! The last Spanish tennis player to do this was Andrés Gimeno who won at Eastbourne 36 years ago. Nadal did it in style beating Novak Djokovic 7-6, 7-5. This surprise before Wimbledon comes just a week after Nadal won [...]
Barça out of the champions league
Barça finally succumbed to a fine performance from Manchester United last night at Old Trafford. Manchester united won by one goal to nil in what was a match that Paul Scholes will remember for a long time. Scholes scored a brilliant goal that gave Barça keeper Victor Valdés no chance. I think it was always going [...]
