Oscar Nominations 2012

With the Oscars upon us once again there is both joy and sadness. On the sad side, the Catalan film Pa Negre which hoped to be nominated for an Oscar in the best foreign film category missed the cut but on the joyful side, the animated film Chico & Rita by Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal has been nominated in the Best Animated Feature Film category.

The Oscars will take place in Los Angeles on 26th February 2012 and Britain’s Gary Oldman goes up against George Clooney and Brad Pitt for a best actor award.

Gary Oldman has been picked by the judges for his role as British spymaster George Smiley in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Gary, 53, said

it was “amazing” to be put forward for the Best Actor award for the first time.
