More Spanish gripes this week with Alonso and company
By Catalonia on Oct 15, 2008 with Comments 0
I’m a bit fed up this week with Alonso’s gripes. He’s thrown his rattle out of his pram again and says that if he can help anyone win the formula 1 drivers’ championship he’ll help Massa. More sour grapes from the little Spaniard I’m afraid – could you ever imagine Massa and Alonso in the same team? Big clash of formula 1 egos. Well Alonso my little friend, I just hope Hamilton wins this year just to shut your mouth as he’ll be the youngest driver to win the formula 1 crown – not you…lol
The other gripe concerns the Spanish press’ attitude towrds the F.A’s stance over not playing the international friendly at the Bernabeu stadium in Madrid. In the spanish daily newspaper La Razon – Julián Redondo who appears to some dim witted little Spanish cluck of a fascist suggests that Britain has no grounds to contest this as we (Britain) are uncapable of keeping our “hooligans” at bay and wait for it, “Spain does more to eradicate racism than Britain does for protecting the monkeys on Gibraltar” ! After I picked myself up off the floor because my sides hurt I will answer him.
Ok Mr Redondo, maybe the English do remember 4 years ago in that very same stadium when the likes of Ashley Cole and Jermaine Jennas and Shaun Wright-Phillips were subjected to racist chants along with ape -like noises and maybe it’s not a big deal to you especially when your ex national team coach uses phrase like “shitty little black man” when referring to the likes of Thierry Henry.
Oh by the way I’ve just heard that Atletico Madrid might not be able to host their Champions League match against Liverpool due to what happened against Marseille. Those incidents included outbreaks of violence between Marseille fans and Spanish police after the latter removed a banner that featured a prohibited symbol, as well as accusations from Marseille officials and players that they had been racially abused by the Atletico fans. Interesting, maybe Mr Julián Redondo should practice what he preaches or maybe his country should at least.
Maybe Mr Redondo has forgotten what happened at the battle of Trafalgar when Admiral Nelson kicked the French and Spanish Armada into touch or would he rather believe what the Spanish history books say and believe that the “elements” were what defeated the mighty Spanish Armada – pathetic to say the least. I suggest he go to his nearest bar, which won’t be too far as in Spain you’re never too far from “la cultura nacional” and have a few Estrellas and some tapas and maybe put the bullfighting on the TV. I think he’d be better writing a gossip column or on Spanish TV on one of their many “corazon” programs talking about Belén Estéban or La Pantoja as it appears he knows very little about sport!
