Extreme sports in Barcelona – LG Snowboard FIS World Cup 2009

Barcelona doesn’t only offer sun, sea, sandy beaches and cool night clubs with a typical laid back ambience. Next weekend on 7th and 8th November Barcelona is hosting for the very first time the super cool LG Snowboard FIS World Cup event. This is a must for those who consider themselves an extreme sports fan. This is one event to mark in your calendars for sure! Extreme Sports are coming to Barcelona, so get ready!

The Snow Show 2009

The Olympic stadium (Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys) will be transformed into a real wintry paradise next weekend especially for the event. We’ll be able to see and enjoy the best of the best regarding the top skiers and snowboarders from around the world just itching to show off their latest moves and tricks. The Snow Show in Barcelona happens to have the highest ramp in Europe for this Snowboard World Cup event. It’s called Big Air and is a whopping 35 metres high! Impressive international snowboarders like Isaac Vergés (Spain), Mathias Weissenbacher (Austria) or Niklas Asmyr (Sweden), as well as spectacular skiers like Xavi Bertoni (France), Paolo Martignolo (Italy), Paddy Graham (GB) and a host of other talented pioneers of extreme sports will stun you with their fantastic tricks on Big Air.

Around 600 tons of snow will provide the perfect base for some famous shredding making the The Snow Show in Barcelona a highlight to remember.

  2. It is amazing that they are able to turn the Olympic Stadium into an arena that is fit for a World Cup snowboarding event. It’s a most remarkable achievement and testament to what they are able to do nowadays.
