Leo Messi gets third FIFA Ballon D’OR

Unbelievable! Lionel Messi has won his third FIFA Ballon D’OR in a row and the only other player to do so was Michel Platini. He beat Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo to the top spot after a stunning year with Barcelona FC. Barca’s Xavi and Messi’s team mate came in third and the golden Ball trophy was presented to the little Argentine by Brazil legend Ronaldo.

Iniesta came in fourth and Real Madrid keeper Casillas came in at ninth in the poll. Lionel Messi scored 47.88% of the votes, Christiano Ronaldo, 21.60% and Xavi, 9.23%. Iniesta, who scored 6.01%, was the fourth most voted player and Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez, Diego Forlán, Samuel Etoo, Iker Casillas (1.29%) and Brazilian wonderkid Neymar completed the list of the top ten for this year.

The feat of taking three FIFA Ballon D’OR trophies is unbelievable and only Michel Platini, Johan Cruyff and Marco van Basten have ever done this!
