Labyrinths Exhibition in Barcelona
Labyrinths have been used as metaphors in film and literature for quite some time. The idea of being lost and unable to find the exit was an adventure that many heroes throughout history have had to overcome, and inspiration for intellectual investigation by writers like Jorge Luis Borges.

This time the Centre for Contemporary Culture (CCCB) will begin an exhibition called ” Labyrinths ” in which works can be observed from different parts, prints, photographs, projections, plans, models, drawings, videos and more who will try to explain, from the viewpoints of different artists, the meaning of the labyrinth in history. Among the works are two highly appreciated Greek coins from the second century BC representing Apollo and Minos that have different mazes in each of the faces.
Labyrinths Exhibition in Barcelona – labyrinths and symbols
In this exhibit you can enjoy everything from the Cretan labyrinth of symbols appearing in ancient Rome to examples from Gothic cathedrals or facsimiles of medieval manuscripts or photos of the gardens of Versailles and various palaces.
The director of the CCCB – Joseph Ramoneda, said the labyrinth became a universal symbol, ‘and through it probably manage to express one of the most frequent feelings of humans: the feeling of being lost and not able to find a direction in life when we feel overwhelmed’.
You can see Labyrinths at the CCCB until January 9, 2011 and is one of the most interesting exhibitions for those who like mystery, fiction or history.
