Barça out of the champions league

Paul Scholes

Barça finally succumbed to a fine performance from Manchester United last night at Old Trafford. Manchester united won by one goal to nil in what was a match that Paul Scholes will remember for a long time. Scholes scored a brilliant goal that gave Barça keeper Victor Valdés no chance. I think it was always going to be a tight game, even tighter than the first leg at the Nou Camp. One thing I was pleased to see was the lack of theatrical stunts from both teams. Both teams went out to win this.

I think Barça had the psychological edge as they only needed to score a goal to be in the final. It didn’t matter if it was 1 a piece as Barcelona would have still gone through on away goal difference. Nani’s performance was excellent and showed some nice touches although was unlucky not to stick one in the Barça net! Tevez played like a born winner, too. What a great little bulldog he’s turned out to be.

I don’t know where this leaves Frank Rijkaard now.  After a disappointing season we may well see heads roll and Rijkaard seems first in line although I believe he’s a great manager - that’s football I suppose!
