Sitges Vintage Car Rally

It’s that time of the year when Sitges holds its annual Sitges Vintage Car Rally. It will be held on 20th, 21st and 22nd March and is certain to draw a huge crowd. The cars that partake in the Sitges Vintage Car Rally usually date before 1924 and they parade along the Catalonian coast for the many spectators who love these vintage vehicles.

The cars start out in Barcelona and race for around 45 kilometres before ending up in Sitges at the port in Aiguadolç. The race starts at Plaza St Jaume in Barcelona at 11:00 a.m on Sunday 21st but you get a chance to view these beautiful works of art on Saturday 20th where they will be on show to the public at the Parc de la Ciutadella.

The winner of the Sitges Vintage Car Rally depends more on the vehicle than actually winning the race itself. Entrants earn extra points for dressing up in vintage attire, too.

This will be the 52nd Sitges Vintage Car Rally and is certainly an event to look forward to especially if you are into vintage cars. They really are works of art that have been lovingly restored by their owners and it’s an event that is not to be missed.

The race usually takes about and hour and a half and the route is outlined below.

Plaza Sant Jaume, Calle Ferrán, Ramblas, Pl. Catalunya, Ronda Universitat, Ronda Sant Antoni, Sepúlveda, Paral.lel, Plaça Espanya, Gran Via, Calle Badal, Constitució, (L’Hospitalet de Llobregat), Santa Eulàlia, Enric Prat de la Riba, Calle Barcelona, Carretera de l’Hospitalet, Avenida de la Fama, Calle Tirso de Molina, Avenida Baix Llobregat (Cornellà de Llobregat) to join to the C-245 Road, Sant Boi de Llobregat, Viladecans, Gavà, Castelldefels through to the C-246 Road, Costes de Garraf, Port d’Aiguadolç in Sitges.

On Monday (22nd) the cars will make their way to the Museu del Ferrocarril in Vilanova i la Geltrú for an official dinner at Freixenet in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia.
