The new Passeig de San Joan in Barcelona

The new Passeig de San Juan will have two less lanes of traffic for cars -one in each direction and the pavements are being widened by 4.5 metres which will make it a real boulevard. This ambitious project was presented yesterday by the district of Eixample in Barcelona.
A process of consultation with residents will begin along with organizational work. Works are set to begin before the end of this year and they would take place between the Arc de Triomphe and Tetuan square. The facelift will cost 3.5 million euros and will be ready at the end of 2010.
