Cristiano Ronaldo wins the Ballon d’Or

Cristiano Ronaldo has been awarded the Ballon d’Or by France Football Magazine. Ronaldo was widely tipped to be the winner, after scoring 42 goals as Manchester United won both the Premier League and the Champions League.

Lionel Messi of Barcelona FC was 2nd, with Fernando Torres – Liverpool coming 3rd.

Ronaldo picked up an amazing 77 votes out of 96 – much higher than last years winner, Kaka of AC Milan.

It now just remains to be seen how long Ronaldo stays in Manchester, with Real Madrid still keen to add him to their list of superstars. Calderon tried once, will he try again? We shall see.
